Sollentuna Art Show 2006 - A " Garage Gallery"

The Afrika theme is from the NGM WebCam in Sept - Nov 2005, when I followed the daily wildlife at Pete's Pond in Botswana, a LIVE webcam with sights and sounds during day and night. Very entertaining. I couldn't resist to put my feelings on paper! :-)

Many visitors thought I had been at the pond for months to do this! No, but as an illustrator with a lively imagination, I think I managed to give them that illusion, and I have always loved to draw and paint animals.

The Art Show (konstronda) 2006 in Sollentuna, 1st - 2nd of April, when many artists opened up their studios, homes, or rented a place, to show visitors their art work.

We have a garage (no rent :-)... so -- once a year we transform it into a gallery and put paintings on the walls, and the car has to stay at the neighbour's some nights -- and we get our "Galleri Garage".

Many friends came, notwithstanding the typical April weather with chilly winds and sun mixed with snow and rain during the weekend, and also visitors who first had been to the Bergendal Conference & SPA, where all artists had one work each to display. There they saw the Wildebeest with a quote in Calligraphy >"I would like to paint something very uggly, but one cannot do so at once ~ One have to take it prettily" (BLANDAREN, the student's magazine (twice a year) from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, famous for funny and witty lines).

The NGM webcam LIVE with sights and sounds is like opening a window for warmth and sun, especially when it is bad weather here. Please try yourself, it is like medicine if you are not feeling well or need to relax.> National Geographic Magazine - WildCam AFRICA . We had a video RealPlayer-recording from one of the mornings at Pete's Water Bar & SPA, with its "rush hour" and the innumerable guineafowls running to and fro, antilopes of many kinds, the early giraffe, elephants having breakfast, the baboons watching the hustle and bustle on the promenade like old retired guests at a SPA, the beautiful but very nervous black-backed jackal scared by warthogs with birds on their backs, the fish eagles, etc

Welcome to a visit in our, by now, only virtual "Gallerie Garage"!
Our Ford is now back in his "home" and will soon change to the summer tyres hidden during the "gallery" time behind a nice green table cloth, like the metal chest for nails under the cloth with a blue pattern from Provence. The water tap was hidden in a bucket with "false" flowers :-) A scent of fresh rosemary and lemon thyme lingered in the air, and we were happy to be able to offer our visitors coffe caramels and fine 70% chocolate squares from Kahl's Kaffe & Teashop in Sollentuna Centrum, one of the biggest sponsors like Bergendal Conference and our local bookshop - Persson's Bokhandel.

Here below are some of the paintings - in close up - "Hakuna matata! "
