Many years ago (2007) we made a small herb garden, but lately it had been invaded by the invasive Aegopodium podagraria (ground elder, herb gerard, bishop’s weed, goutweed, gout wort). The Mentha piperita (peppermint) liked the place so much it had spread itself all over the place. Time to replant and renew. Pär removed all the steppingstones and small pebbles, and sifted the soil to get rid of the evil rootes. We saved the peony, the sage and the little Cystopteris fragilis (common fragile fern). New “blanket” against weed, replace the steppingstones, buy some new, pretty plants in pots and put them in the prepared places and then return the beautiful pebbles from the seaside (bought – not nicked 😉 ) The peppermint got a new place along the wall under the Japanese maple with a Mentha spicata, useful in cooking Mediterranean dishes.

Remove steppingstones and pebbles.
Dig and remove ALL pieces of invasive roots.
New “weed blanket” and replace the steppingstones.
Cut holes in the “blanket” and plant the new herbs and flowers.
Return the beautiful pebbles.
Echinacea and Lavendar are butterfly favourites.

The Peony needs some help to stay upright.
Rosemary, Hyssop, Parsley,
Lemon balm, and French Estragon. Done!
